Finish the sentence….Miss. Bree’s first Halloween was ____________________. Ha, we could probably use any word from the following list: memorable, special, unusual, one-of-a-kind, interesting…etc. And why words from this list? Well her Halloween didn’t include dressing up, passing out candy, or trick-or-treating…it included spending the day at a hotel, doing laundry and creating a video detailing the most recent events. I’m glad we were able to take Bree to some fall events that included Halloween costumes or else she wouldn’t have gotten to use her first Halloween costume as we were here in the Navy Lodge where it was warm. Still no power at home in case you were wondering. I did have a Halloween outfit that I put Bree in for the day. It wasn’t her Halloween costume, but at least we were in the spirit of the holiday. Jason’s co-workers were handing out Halloween inspired desserts, so he took two spider cupcakes to use as my birthday cake as he was unable to bake me one as a result of our power outage. Once Jason got home (sad that I’m saying this about a hotel room…ha), we had our Halloween birthday cupcake (which I blew out imaginary candles), unwrapped birthday presents and cards, and unwrapped Halloween cards. Thank you everyone for the wonderful birthday wishes!! Bree gave me a delightful birthday card and here’s the message that she had daddy write on the inside: “Mommy, I wanted to thank you for taking care of me. I wanted to get you something big, like a car, but Daddy told me I had to get a job. I hope you like my gift. I love you sooooo much! Happy Birthday! Love, Bree” I’ve got to say, she’s pretty insightful and thoughtful for a being a little girl. It turned out that Bree and Jason worked together to create three very creative and loving poems about my time with baby Brianna. How special!! Brianna also gave her daddy a Halloween card that she signed and wrote (with a little bit of help from mommy). I wrapped her hand around the pen and moved the pen and card up and down to help her write her message. In the picture, she looks very proud of her accomplishment!
I will say this as probably been the most unusual and interesting Halloween and 29th birthday that I have every experienced, but I was extremely glad and thankful to be spending the day with my little girl and my loving husband….and of course, power and heat!!!
