So for those of you who haven't noticed, Amy has done something like the last 50 blogs, so I figured I'd throw my hat back in the ring and do a few posts (especially since I'm home all day with a sick baby).
April 2012 marked the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. So naturally James Cameron figured it'd be a great opportunity to re-release Titanic in the movie theaters and add some 3D effects to it. Now up until this point I have never actually seen the movie the whole way through. I avoided it entirely (similar to how you would avoid the plague) until several years into dating Amy. Only then did I watch parts of it when it was came on TV. Amy on the other hand has seen the movie something like a dozen times so we were coming from opposite ends of the spectrum.
Well, considering all that she's done for me and Miss Bree I figured taking her to see it in the theater would be a nice treat. It would also give us a much needed date night where we can actually leave the diaper bag behind. Thankfully one of Amy's coworkers (Jess) was able to help us out by watching Bree for a few hours while we went to the movie.
Now I'm not usually a huge fan of 3D movies, a lot of times I feel like they still lean toward the cliche scenes where something is popping up toward the screen which just seems to obvious for me. Since Titanic wasn't made as a 3D movie though, they just made the regular scenes 3D which actually did well for the movie. As much as I can't believe I'm saying this, Titanic was actually a pretty good movie (I'm going to pay for this later I'm sure). The first 30 minutes or so drag a bit, but after that it does pick up quite a bit and I really enjoyed watching it with Amy. It was a nice first date night for us since having Bree and gave us a chance to rejuvenate, even if just for a few hours (believe it or not having a baby can be somewhat tiring!).
Of course now that Dark Knight Rises is in the theaters Amy can repay the favor by taking me out there:)

Spring Photo Shoot
The weekend after Easter, Jason and I got Bree all dressed up and took her outside on a beautiful spring day to take the pictures that I had wanted to take on Easter weekend, but got delayed thanks to Bree spitting up on her outfit. We decided to go back to our old digital camera because it offers a continuous shot option. I highly recommend this option if anyone is trying to take pictures of babies and are looking for that right shot. Most the times, I catch Bree in a great pose, but once the camera flashes she has moved to a different pose and the camera missed it. Well, not this day! We got a bunch of beautiful shots of our little angel. I'm really happy with them. We moved her all around our yard for different angles. Bree cooperated beautifully and I was a pleased momma!

Going to the Park
Jason and I just got back from taking Bree to McCook Point Park, a local park that is right up the road and has access to the beach (Long Island Sound to be exact). It was a bit chiller than I expected and started to drizzle after we got there, so we didn't stay too long. We did stay long enough for Bree to get a first taste of swings. I loved (and still do) swinging. I remember walking to the elementary school near my parents place with my girlfriends and swinging and talking on the swing sets even into high school. I was so pleased that Bree actually liked the swing. The toddler swing that we put her in was huge for her. She barely covered a tiny bit of it. We also tried her on the slide, which she didn't really know what to do with. A little boy seemed fascinated by her and came up on the slide to talk to her. He told her all about his little baby sister and asked what her name was and how old she was...super cute!

Easter Bunny Is Coming to Town
Here we are in April celebrating Bree's 1st Easter!! I can't believe all
these firsts are happening...the year seems to be flying by. Along with
pictures from Easter, I'm also going to add some pictures from the
weeks in between St. Patty's Day and Easter (months 7 and 8). After
receiving a quick drop by visit from Jason's father (Bree's Grandpop the
weekend or so before Easter), it was time to celebrate Easter. A few
weeks prior, Jason, Bree, and I were shopping in Target and I
immediately found a pair of Easter bunny ears (headband) in the 99 cent
section. It was a rainy day (actually pouring), so Jason dropped me and
Bree off at the front of the store and drove around to find a spot. I
put the ears on Bree and wanted for him to come into the store. The
sight of Bree in these giant Easter bunny ears got both of us, along
with some other customers, laughing...so we bought them. Bree's not too
fond of them anymore, but it was cute while it lasted. Unfortunately we
didn't get a chance to take Bree to see the Easter Bunny, but he was
nice enough to stop by our house anyway. Each one of us, include the
cats, got a small Easter basket. Bree's mainly consisted of some toys
and baby food (yumm). She'll have to ask the Easter Bunny for some
chocolate once she gets older :) Jason and I completed our tradition of
Easter egg hunts (too hard for little kids), where we each get a
specific amount of eggs and time to hide. Jason gets one floor of the
house and I get the other. We then race to see who can find the most
amount of eggs in a specific time period. We started this game several
years ago while we lived in LA and have continued it ever since. Our
Easter egg hunts are pretty difficult and often end with the other
person helping to find all the Easter Eggs. I cried "fowl" this year as
we only hide 2 real Easter eggs each (the rest are the plastic ones).
The only rule for the real eggs is that they have to be in a visible
location (mainly so we don't lose real eggs only to have them rot in our
house). Jason decided that he was going to hide one of his real eggs
inside a cookie tin that was placed on the counter from the night
before. He thinks it was visible, I say no way since the cookie tin was
sealed and was not see-through. We may have a cheater on our hands. We
then did a smaller, age-appropriate Easter egg hunt for Bree (one egg
was in her car seat, one half hidden by a blanket, and one on her
play-mat). I walked Bree around the living room until we found all 3 of
her eggs. After spending the morning at our place, we then drove to New
Fairfield where my grandmother, aunts, uncles, and cousins are. We had
Easter lunch/dinner with them. I had planned to get some pictures of
Bree all dressed up, but she decided she wanted to spit up on all three
of her outfits. Next time. It was cute seeing Bree and her cousin Stella
play together. Bree was trying new behaviors that are too advanced for
her and Stella regressed in some of her behaviors. I can't wait to see
these two grow up and become playmates! Happy Easter, everyone!!!
Bree's new game...sticking out my tongue game!
Wish I was that flexible..ha ha
